With so many bicycle tour companies to choose from, deciding which one is best for
you can be a difficult choice. We design our bike tours for cyclists who want challenging
routes, comfortable accommodations and the ability to experience the area’s
best biking. When you choose Adventure Travel Group for your next cycling vacation,
here’s what you can expect:
Bike tours designed for avid cyclists
We offer guided, fully supported, bicycle tours in France, Italy, Spain, Croatia,
Slovenia, Chile, Argentina and Canada. We thoroughly research each of our destinations
to find challenging routes and the best biking roads each area has to offer.
Because we’re avid cyclists ourselves, we personally scout each destination
so we can provide our guests with the best riding options.
Experienced guides who are invested in your satisfaction
All of our bike tours are designed and guided by Lise Fleury and Gary Bezer, owners/operators
of Adventure Travel Group. Gary and Lise are the single point on contact from start
to finish, so there’s no chance of disconnect between the "front office" and
what happens on your tour. We’re passionate about bicycling, the places we
tour and the people we meet along the way and are committed to making your vacation
an unforgettable one.
Small group size
We limit our tours to 14 guests so we’re able to select small, family-run
inns and restaurants that aren’t possible for some of the larger tours. We
believe that a smaller group offers a more relaxed traveling and dining experience
and gives our guests an opportunity to get to know each other.
Multi-night stays for more comfort and relaxing experience
Most of our cycling tours are designed with several two- and three-night
stays so there’s no need to pack/unpack every day. Staying multiple nights
in the same hotel is more relaxing, allows you more time to explore and offers greater
flexibility for how you spend your day. You’re able to sleep in, enjoy a leisurely
day sightseeing or ride an alternate route.
Travel at your own pace
You choose how much or little you want to ride each day, or whether you want to
ride with the group or on your own. We provide you with a variety of daily ride
options and other activities so you can choose what you want to do. The support
van is always available if you decide you want to shorten your ride or get relief
from a long climb. Our flexible tours allow two travel companions of different cycling
abilities to share the same trip, while riding the pace and routes that satisfy
both.
Excellent value and guest satisfaction
More than 90% of our guests have traveled with us in the past or have been referred
by previous guests, and we’re proud of that. You may find tours that cost
less—and plenty that cost a lot more—but we doubt that you’ll
find better value for your money! We have no outside staff, no sales team or fancy
brochures, so our low overhead allows us to focus more of your tour dollar back
into your trip.
Great itineraries, detailed route sheets
Our itineraries are thoroughly researched, scouted and updated to include
the best riding that each region has to offer. We provide you with detailed route
notes with elevation profiles and maps so you’re well prepared and oriented.
We design each tour around magnificent scenery, traffic-free routes and welcoming
accommodations. Rather than selecting the more popular tourist areas, we explore
the lightly traveled back roads of each area, discovering quaint towns and enjoying
local cuisine. Our routes often include optional stops along the way so you can
explore castles, churches and other points of interest, as well as sample the local
cheeses, olives and wine.
Delicious, satisfying meals
Tours include hearty, cyclist-friendly buffet breakfasts and most dinners (four-course)
with wine and coffee. We select quaint restaurants that feature authentic regional
cuisine, wines and friendly service. We’ve found that most people enjoy having
a few nights on their own to eat a little lighter or explore the area’s restaurants,
so each tour offers a few free nights (we’re happy to provide recommendations).
Lunches are on your own each day, giving you the flexibility to eat what and when
you want, but we provide a variety of snacks and drinks in the van for each day’s
ride.
Quaint, welcoming accommodations
We carefully select smaller inns and hotels that reflect the charm and uniqueness
of each region. We ensure that each inn meets our standards: comfortable rooms secure
overnight bike storage and hearty breakfasts. Accommodations are primarily 2-4 star
hotels, with rooms that have a bath/shower and WC included.
Coaching and cycling tips
Gary is a Level II USA Cycling coach, so if you need tips for getting ready
for a trip or some coaching on the tour, just ask! Want to get your climbing position
down or improve your pedal stroke? With thousands of miles behind him on several
continents, Gary is happy to share his knowledge and experience with you.
