Testimonials

"If you want large busses, large groups and large, "big box" hotels, Adventure Travel Group isn't for you. BUT, if you enjoy being away from the normal tourist grind, small and friendly groups, and guides who personally have experienced every hotel, restaurant, and ride, then travel with Gary and Lise. I'll soon be booking my third trip and now think of them as friends!"
Dave Benson, Fort Collins, CO

"I have had the pleasure of taking two cycling trips to Europe with ATG and can't wait to take another! I could not imagine a better trip. Gary and Lise take care of every aspect of the trip with great attention to detail — the cycling route, food, accommodations and alternative activities are all planned to perfection. The end result is a trip that leaves me telling all my friends that trips with ATG are the ultimate vacations."
Roanne Miller, Breckenridge, CO

"Get it right the first time! Trust your next European cycling vacation to Gary and Lise, and you'll be rewarded with expert attention to even the smallest details. Croatia was our first-ever trip with them, and were very pleased with how they made us feel right at home. Unique to their small-group setting is the lodging, food, cycling routes and 'local flavor' you won't get with bigger groups. We can't wait to travel with them again!"

"Our trip with Adventure Travel Group to Québec this summer was outstanding. This is a part of the world that is definitely off the beaten path, and we would have never been able to experience it properly without Gary and Lise. Their organization of trip logistics was wonderful; the route they choose was scenic with very few vehicles; and the hotels and restaurants were great values. We never could have put this trip together on our own, and it was definitely the highlight of the cycling year! I give them four stars!"
Ron Goldman, San Diego, CA

"Wow, everything I wished for and more, way more! Being a part of the craziness of the Tour de France itself, the restaurants and food, the lodging — all far surpassed my high expectations. I've been on many bike tours and Gary and Lise's tour was the best. They made this one perfect — making us all laugh, adjusting sag support to individual needs, translating the French menus, riding WITH us, and capping it off by changing flats! Can't wait to join Adventure Travel Group on another trip!"
Bonnie Osborn, Frisco, CO

"I went to the 2007 Tour de France with one of the largest tour operators. Although I liked the experience, I wanted to be a little more thoughtful in choosing a travel operator on my trip to see the 2008 Tour. I selected ATG because they rated well across all my criteria, had the best route (it included the most well-known climbs in the Pyrenees) and provided more climbing opportunities. I selected ATG’s eight-day option. After climbing about 30,000 ft. and summiting 12 well-known peaks in the Pyrenees on this trip, I was very happy that my research paid off. With ATG, we stayed in very nice places, had great French cuisine every night and the hotels were close to great Tour viewing. We even got a series of autographs on multiple days of the tour. It was great, thanks to Gary and Lise!"

"After many years of family and group bike tours in France and the U.S., the 10 days of riding in Catalunya with Gary and Lise were my most enjoyable bicycle vacation ever! Their route planning was outstanding, combining flexible cycling challenges, beautiful scenery and cultural immersion. The hotels they chose were classy, low-key and intimate. Last but not least, they fostered a congenial atmosphere among the group of 16 total strangers who quickly became best friends, while attending to every detail in an efficient and relaxed manner. If there was a gold medal for bicycle tour operators, they should get it!"
Philippe Dunoyer, Denver, CO

"Our Alps to Ventoux trip was incredible. Gary and Lise are the best guides we have ever toured with. Their knowledge of France and attention to every detail made this trip unforgettable. The rides were epic and the food was delicious, but what we didn't expect were the first-class accommodations each night. If you dream about riding the most legendary climbs in France, then this trip is for you!"
Dave and Anne Simonson, San Diego, CA

"The trip and all that you two did exceeded our expectations, and the question is not if we do this again, but when. We're thinking about Croatia or Slovenia in the fall, and we're going to decide quickly — once word gets around about Adventure Travel Group and how great your vacations are, they'll fill up quickly!"
Mark and Andrea Lowell, Denver, CO

"There is simply no better way to enjoy riding in Europe. Gary and Lise crafted a tour that incorporated some of the most spectacular rides while staying off of the beaten path. They have a knack for finding cafés and restaurants that are as memorable as the riding itself. Floyd himself would be jealous of the support crew!"
Kevin Rinderle, Seattle, WA

"Lise and Gary did such a great job finding extraordinary places along the way. We stayed in so many unique, wonderful hotels and inns. It was apparent that they had spent a lot of time finding interesting and special routes that really exposed us not only to the essence of the sport of cycling in Italy, but to the less traveled, cultural aspects that helped round out our European experience."
Ruth and Bob Wade, Aspen, CO

"The Alps, Vercors, Mont Ventoux tour was an absolutely amazing experience. Gary and Lise knew every inch of road from start to finish to maximize the enjoyment of riding some of the classic Tour de France stages. The trip started on the shores of Lake Annecy and ended in the beautiful vineyards and lavender fields of Provence. Every day offered plenty of options for challenging, scenic and fun rides with time for exploring the unique sights of the French countryside. The small inns and hotels provide a comfortable place to call home during the trip as well. I would recommend ATG and this tour to anyone, especially those interested in challenging themselves against the French Alps."
Nick Clements, Fort Collins, CO

"When I signed up to go on this trip, I knew I would have a good time but could never have imagined how incredible it truly would be! My expectations for all aspects of the trip were blown away! Thanks to Gary and Lise's dedication to perfection, it was a trip of a lifetime for me. I'm already planning my next trip with them."
Sarah McAlister, Creste Butte, CO

"The best way to see a country is on your bike and Adventure Travel Group makes it easy by doing all the planning. Gary and Lise provided everything we needed — adventurous biking, wonderful hotels, great meals, panoramic scenery ... The Istrian peninsula of Croatia is not to be missed, but don't delay — once the word gets out, there'll be too many tourists on the road!" Ellen Cherin, San Diego, CA

"Lise and Gary made sure that even a newbie like me felt at ease and well cared for throughout the two-week journey. I was always given options if my desire for cycling wavered. The camaraderie and laughs among the group was a plus and every care and concern was attended to. I would definitely do a repeat with Adventure Travel Group."

"Having never ridden a proper road bike or been touring, going on a two-week cycling tour with Adventure Travel Group through the Italian Alps with a team of very keen cycling enthusiasts worried me ... A LOT! What made it even worse was, having just finished writing a book, I was very unfit and only practised at the sitting part of cycling, NOT the peddling/exercise part!

But once we hit the road my fears were allayed as Gary and Lise took me under their wings and looked after me and my every cycling need. They were the most professional, well prepared and encouraging trip leaders I could have possibly hoped for and left no stone unturned when it came to looking after me and the team. I would happily recommend them and their trips to anyone, young or old, very experienced or inexperienced. But beware, you may get hooked!

"Steve and I would like to thank you for the fantastic trip in the Pyrenees for the TDF. It was a wonderful way to make our honeymoon remarkable and memorable. We truly appreciated the intimacy that Adventure Travel Group maintains, keeping the tour numbers small and the choices you made when considering hotels and routes. You gave us the opportunity to collect many special memories that I will treasure for a lifetime. Thank you for preparing and executing such a wonderful trip!
Kathleen and Steve Hauser, Carlisle, MA

"We consider ourselves relatively knowledgeable when it comes to cycling holidays, having taken six previous cycling trips to Europe. Our 2008 Alps to Ventoux with Adventure Travel Group was the best. Gary and Lise are consummate professionals. They were keenly aware of our comfort, safety and always attentive to our needs. Their command of the route details was exceptional and made for great rides. Gary and Lise are the kind of individuals you would like to hang out with. Their love of travel and adventurous spirit are irresistible. We are looking forward to our next tour with ATG."
Gordon and Patti Chiang, Larkspur, CA

"I had been dreaming about a trip like this for a long time and had a very serious agenda in place. ATG helped me achieve all my goals and more. The 2006 Pyrenees trip was an incredible adventure that left me wishing I could stay another two weeks, or longer. This was a small and very compatible group that worked and played together amazingly well. Lise and Gary were great hosts and the lodging, meals and overall experience was the best."
Al Hospers, North Conway, NH

"Cycling in the French Alps with Gary and Lise was challenging, rewarding and enjoyable. It's was an experience of a lifetime."
Jeff and Paul Nelsen, Boulder, CO

"My bike trip with Adventure Travel Group was the best European Vacation I have ever had! The value I received far exceeded the trip's cost, which was very reasonable. Everything about my ATG trip was excellent. EVERY hotel and lodge we stayed in provided us with five-star service, clean comfortable rooms and with sincere, polite and gracious attention.

"Every group dinner was at a locally owned and operated French restaurant with the finest local favorites, deliciously prepared and served with pride and French hospitality. The riding routes were a cyclist’s dream, on rolling country roads with only cows, sheep and well-planned break points for riders to rest and refuel — always with the reliable sag wagon or local café. Big climbing days were always well discussed and reviewed by Gary, who helped ensure everyone had a fun, safe and memorable day on the bike.

"My trip was designed for a rider who likes to climb. We rode over 20 cols, 45,000 feet in 12 days. Every evening, ATG provided us with the next day’s route, grade/elevation, detailed maps and overall plan of action for our review. For those who didn’t want to ride/climb that day, ATG provided shorter or alternate rides, cultural experiences and suggestions to help them enjoy a day off their bike. I’m already looking forward to seeing what ATG has planned for next year. Feel free to contact me for more information. Travel well!"
