1. Day 0 Arrive in Cagliari
Buon giorno Italia!  Arrive early and spend a day relaxing by the Mediterranean sea and exploring the Castello, which is much as D. H. Lawrence saw it in 1921, filled with a palazzo from the 1300s and 1400s and some decaying churches of various styles.
  2. Days 1-4 Explore the remote Gennargentu mountains and Cala Gonone
We start our tour with a visit of the UNESCO archaeological site of Su Nuraxi in Barumini to learn about the mysterious ancient past of Sardinia before heading into the island's interior.  The Gennargentu Mountains are remote and rugged with rivers, lakes, and an amazing variety of wildlife such as flamingos, falcons and wild boar.  We stay and explore Cala Gonone, a seaside village with a dramatic coastline where the mountain plunges into the sea.  Challenge yourself cycling over Sardinia’s highest pass and alongside the impressive Suprmonet di Oliena massif and enjoy the local Nepente red wine and  Su Golonge springs after a fantastic day of cycling.
  3. Days 5-6 Bosa and the Northwest Coast
We spend the next two nights in the historic riverfront town of Bosa with its washed-out pastel houses lining an historic centre of ancient cobbled streets, crowned by a ruined castle.  We will ride an amazing loop  along the spectacular Emerald Coast stopping  for lunch in the seaside Catalan town of Alghero and explore the labyrinth network of pedestrian lanes before returning to Bosa along the coast or the more challenging interior route.  Keep your eyes open for griffon vultures along this section of natural coastline defined as the most beautiful section of coast in Italy. Celebrate at the end of your ride with a nice cool glass of the local Malvasia white wine.
  4. Days 7-9 Explore wild and scenic Costa Verde
We cycle along the Costa Verde, some of the wildest coastal scenery on the island.  Enjoy the wild and scenic  golden beach of Portixeddu and the  looming mass of Pan di Zucchero cliff. We will also go back in time to Sardinia’s  ancient mining past, as we pass the fascinating abandoned mines of Buggerru and Planusartu.
